Sustainability and the Built Environment

The University of Florida is committed to building a more sustainable campus. Through early design integration and long-standing green building practices, Planning, Design & Construction helps ensure that each project contributes to a healthier environment and a more efficient future. Explore UF’s leadership in sustainable design, from certifications to ongoing initiatives.

Designing for a Sustainable Future

As part of our commitment to a better future, PDC integrates sustainability early in design phase. Through major renovations and new construction, projects follow Green Building Principles to provide healthy indoor environments while also reducing earth’s resources.

Since 2003, we establish culture of excellence and accountability by receiving green building certification and to this day, UF prides itself as having more green building certifications than any other public higher education institution.

All projects to receive an equivalent of LEED Gold level certification.
