Mission, Vision, & Purpose

This section outlines the guiding responsibilities, commitments, and core values that shape how Planning, Design & Construction serves the University of Florida. It reflects our long-term goals, operating principles, and role in supporting the campus community through thoughtful development and stewardship.


Our Mission

The Planning, Design and Construction Division is responsible to the Vice President of Business Affairs for the planning, design and construction of all physical facilities of the University of Florida and the management of its space and physical resources.

Our Promise

How We Deliver

The end product will exhibit high quality workmanship and aesthetics, will function as envisioned, and will be cost effective for long term operation and maintenance.

SUSTAINABILITY

We will meet or exceed energy efficiency goals and attain the desired green rating certification while supporting the University’s sustainability goals.

GOALS & PURPOSE

The PDC Project manager will understand your needs as communicated and will work efficiently to meet your goals while supporting a long-term vision for campus growth and development.

The project will be on track to meet or exceed its goals.

Top Issues & Challenges

To continue to deliver the highest quality Major and Minor capital projects within budget and on schedule while meeting the programmatic requirements of the projects and conforming with all Board of Education’s construction requirements and all applicable codes and ordinances.

To coordinate the maintenance and update of the Campus Master Plan and ensure that it is followed by all units of the University in order to maintain a logical and controlled physical development.

To provide leadership in coordination with the Board of Governors, the City of Gainesville, and Alachua County to successfully update the Campus Master Plan.

To work with facilities-related committees to assure timely reviews and approvals of all phases of the planning and design of Major and Minor construction projects.

To host and support the Architectural Review Council in its endeavor to ensure the highest level of professional design from University consultants.

To support the University’s mission in delivering high performance buildings, to support faculty in research, and to make Planning, Design and Construction functions available for students’ education.
